Apple’s GateKeeper helps protect your Mac from applications that could adversely affect it. However in October last year a researcher has found a way to bypass the GateKeeper. Apple has since patched this vulnerability. But this researcher is back and he claims that Apple did not really patch the vulnerability properly and hackers can still bypass GateKeeper. Apparently Apple is working on patching it soon.
So what’s the take on this? While Apple does do a lot to protect their customers from malware threats, Macs are vulnerable just like other operating systems. What can you do? Install security protection on your Mac, apply the Mac security updates when they are released and be aware of what you install on your Mac.
