Make regular backup copies of your Outlook email, contacts, calendar items, etc. PDF Print E-mail

If you use Outlook to receive your emails and/or store tasks and calendar items you will want to make sure that you have multiple backup copies in case of some misfortune.

There is a tool that allows you to make copies of the Outlook.pst file (each PST file contains all your Outlook folders, including the Inbox, Calendar and Contacts). You can have a single PST file (usually called Personal Folders in your Folder List), but you can also have an additional PST file that you use for archiving. Using the backup tool you can backup any of these PST files.

You can read the full article here and also find the linik to download the software. http://office.microsoft.com/en-gb/outlook/HA010875321033.aspx

Note that this should not replace your existing backup solution if you have a proper one in place. If you need help implementing this tool or need a complete backup solution then contact us. Tel 0402 936 861

ATO warns against fake tax email PDF Print E-mail

"The Tax Office is warning people about a fraudulent email being circulated that claims to offer a refund from the Tax Office.

It is similar to previous scams and uses the Tax Office logo and the words ‘Notification - Please read’ or ‘Australian Taxation Office - Please Read This’ in the subject heading.

There may also be more variations to these subject headings.

The email asks people to click on a link which directs them to a bogus website that looks similar to the Tax Office website and asks for credit card and personal details.

The Tax Office never sends emails asking people to provide personal information including credit card details.

Tax Commissioner Michael D’Ascenzo said anyone who receives the email should delete it immediately.

“People should be wary of unsolicited emails claiming to be from the Tax Office.

“As an extra precaution we recommend you type internet addresses directly into your internet browser rather than clicking on links embedded in emails,” Mr D’Ascenzo said.

These websites are often set up in multiple jurisdictions making them difficult to trace and to effectively shut them down.

If people have entered their credit card information on the website, they should immediately report it to their credit card provider." - article source

Outlook 2007, How-to add mail folders to your Favorite Folders list PDF Print E-mail

Hope you are all having a great xmas/new year break.

I've got a simple tip this week for Outlook 2007 users. If you have many folders in Outlook and there are some that you frequently use then here is a tips that will create a shortcut of that folder in the top left of your Outlook program under the "Favorite Folders" list. This is especially useful if you have a folder that is a number of sub folder layers deep or one that sits at the bottom of you folder list causing you the pain of having to scroll down each time you want to access it.

 Procedure:

   1. Right-click on the folder that you want to add to your "Favorite Folders" list

   2. Select "Add to Favorite folders"

Done!
